Maura MurphyMaura Murphy is a current senior at Immaculate High School. This is her second year of participating as a Mentor for Ms President US and she is thrilled to be back. This year, she hopes to be a supportive role model for the girls and help them find their voices. She wants to encourage them to set goals for the future in order to succeed, and uplift others too.
At school she is a varsity member of track and cross country year round, and also works in town at Johnny Gelato. Last year, Maura founded and is President of the Pottery Club. She loves art and hopes to spread joy through the creation of it to others. She also is a member of National Honors Society, Key Club, She’s the First Club, Student Ambassadors, Campus Ministry, and is a mentor of the Bridging the Gap Club. The clubs helps international students feel more welcomed in the community and assist them in adjusting. She’s the First Club also holds a special place in her heart as its goal is similar to Ms President US. The club was made to help empower women everywhere. The club creates fundraisers in order to send money across the world to women in need, so they can continue their education. It is so important as they often can’t continue their schooling, and sometimes feel as if they have less of a voice in society due to that. Maura also loves volunteering at places such as Dorothy Day, Keeler Tavern Camp in Ridgefield, and parochial track meets, and more She encourages people to participate in activities such as these, that they love, in order to engage with others while also being able to positively impact the community. She is so excited to collaborate with the girls and fellow mentors, and hopes for a great next year. |
