Ellie Carter, a senior at Ridgefield High School, has always believed in the importance of leadership, public speaking, and hard work. She channels these values into everything she does, from her schoolwork to her personal life.

Ellie currently serves as the Chief of Leadership Staff for the orchestra program at Ridgefield High School, as well as the Regional President of the CT Valley Region of BBYO, an international Jewish teen movement. She also is an assistant teacher at her temple’s religious school, teaching the Hebrew language and Jewish culture, and an employee at Books on the Common. In addition, she is currently serving as Class Vice President of her National Charity League chapter. Finally, Ellie is a team captain of both the Mock Trial and Debate teams at RHS. These positions have all helped her learn valuable life skills and allowed her to get more involved in programs that she is passionate about.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ellie worked with a team of about 30 other high school students around the country to create the website findcovidtests.com, which helped Americans locate COVID-19 screening and testing sites. Users could input their location and receive a list of all of the screening and testing sites within a 50-mile radius, as well as information about how to book an appointment. Once the Department of Health and Human Services developed their own list of sites, the website was converted to include resources on how to self-assess for COVID symptoms. Over 13,000 people have accessed the website, which was translated into seven languages, and it received media coverage from outlets such as 13ABC, MSN, and the Hartford Courant.

Ellie has been able to keep up with her busy and rewarding schedule through pure hard work, which shows through in her schoolwork as well as her extracurriculars. She is a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist, and through National Charity League, she has received the gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award multiple times for accumulating over 100 hours of community service per year. She is dedicated and passionate about everything that she does, and cannot wait to apply that passion to Ms President US this year as Junior Board Co-President.
